When I was 15 I told my parents I wanted to be a hairdresser , my Dad wasn’t impressed with my career choice he tried to sway we away but me being the head strong girl that I am went in for it regardless , I started my training course at the age of 15 it was tough juniors did not get it easy back then I can tell you ! My Dad still trying to change my career path offered me a job at his office on much better money and I went for it ! Still doing hairdressing on the side in my spare time I spent 12 years in his office eventually running it for him when he retired and moved abroad - I hated it - I dreaded going in - it made me feel ill and drained - loved the people I worked with but my god I was bored !! But I was trapped I was used to the money and he relied on me to run it for him ! In 2007 I had my first child and after maternity leave returned part time but this was difficult navigating childcare and work - then he sold the business and made me redundant in 2008 I was elated- and scared ….however I made the jump back into freelance hairstyling and in 2009 my first wedding was complete and wow !!! What a feeling this is a dream job - I’m in control of my own time doing something I love working around my family , bringing happiness to so many beautiful brides it’s just the most rewarding job- girls follow your dreams follow your heart you spend all your life working these days it’s got to be doing something that excites you !!! Thank you to each and every one of my brides for trusting me with their hair on the biggest most vulnerable day of your life ❤️ & you know what my Dad said to me last year - that I’ve done well for myself I work so hard and I’m “pretty good at it” got it on a voice clip in fact ❤️ he never told me or my brothers directly that he was proud of us that wasn’t his way but I know he was ❤️
